MF 5612 Helps Promote Pledge on Local Sourcing

A Massey Ferguson tractor ploughed its way through traffic to the heart of the City at Canary Wharf to highlight the vital contribution of agriculture and food to the economy.

Hosted by corporate sustainability champion Footprint, the event celebrated their 5th annual Footprint Awards which recognise sustainable practices in the foodservice supply chain.

Leaders and senior professionals from the foodservice sector attended along with representatives of the UK’s Red Tractor food assurance scheme. They showed their support and commitment to sourcing British food by signing a pledge document for presentation to the Secretary of State.

The placing of the tractor in the Capital’s financial district – in what was a first for Canary Wharf - is part of Footprint's nationwide ‘Buy British, Boost Britain’ campaign. The campaign acknowledges the huge economic impact that is being made by the foodservice sector in sourcing food produced in the UK. In addition, it is calling for more action to be taken by the government to nurture agricultural growth to support rising demand for food.

Footprint is a leading source of information and forum focused on responsible business and sustainability for the foodservice supply chain.
