Three generations harvesting together

The Perthshire family farming company of D & A Sinclair near Perth purchased a new combine in 2012, as father, Douglas Sinclair remarked “this is the first time we have invested in a new machine rather than one which has already been worked hard.”

The decision to go for the MF Beta combine followed successful demonstrations in the summer of 2011, replacing a competitor machine.

Douglas’s son Andrew was looking for a combine, which would cope with the very hilly conditions they face in and around the Earn valley where the farm is situated and around Kinross, handling around 600 acres of grain. The specification of 18ft powerflow table, auto levelling and four wheel drive proved an attractive package to Ian who enthusiastically commented “ With the unprecedented wet conditions throughout the whole of last summer it would have been impossible to harvest our crops without this machine, the decision paid off in a very difficult year and no field was left untouched.”

Andrew was keen having made such an important decision to record the event, more so since his son will now be the third generation of the family. He suggested to Reekie’s that a picture with all three generations and the combine would be a memento for the future of the past. Reekie’s were more than happy to set the wheels in motion and earlier this summer an opportunity presented itself with all the three generations and their MF Beta combine.
