Alex powers his way to strongman finals

Massey Ferguson-sponsored heavyweight, Alex Curletto now has the World’s Strongest Man championships clearly in his sights after successfully qualifying at the Giants Live event in Hungary.

Securing 5th position in this hotly-contested competition in Budapest, 150kg Alex pushed, pulled and lifted his way through to the final to be held in Sanya, China in August.

Alex works for Massey Ferguson’s parent company AGCO as an Accounts Payable Analyst based at the company’s UK operations at Abbey Park, Stoneleigh in Warwickshire.

“Giants Live was an extremely tough competition played out in temperatures over 38 degrees C”, he says. “Some of the top guys in the world were there so there was no room for mistakes. I would normally have competed in several strongman events by this time of year but this was my first competition since I sustained an injury last August so I’m especially pleased to have qualified for the final.”

“We are absolutely thrilled at Alex’s success,” comments Campbell Scott, Massey Ferguson Brand Development Manager. “It’s a tremendous achievement for this gentle giant who applies his talent for raw power with quiet determination, perfectly matching the strong values of the Massey Ferguson brand. We’ll be backing him all the way as he competes on the global stage at the finals in China.”

Thirty contestants will battle it out for the World’s Strongest Man title. Alex already has experience of the world championship and came 15th in the 2010 competition held in South Africa.

Everyone at Massey Ferguson and AGCO wishes him every success for China.
