Red Tractor helps “Beef up” the 2013 Great British Beef Week

A Massey Ferguson 7616 provided by local Dealer, Peacock & Binnington proved a real crowd pleaser in Parliament Street, York City Centre last week for the launch of the Great British Beef Week 2013.

The event, run by Ladies in Beef (a national group of female beef farmers who actively promote beef) and supported by the National Farmers Union on the day invited members of the public to take part in a special ‘pop-up video trailer’ and record short video clips pledging to Buy British for the online social media campaign #buybritish.

Samples of locally produced beef and a Shopper’s Guide to Buying British Beef was handed out on the day to help members of the public read and understand the labels routinely used by major supermarkets. The simple guide highlights what people should look for to make sure their meat is home reared as well as explaining more about the Red Tractor logo – one of the best indicators of British beef that also provides a guarantee of traceability and independent inspection.
