Team Up and Innovation

The “MF Desert Challenge” team (Küfferagri employees) transformed the MF 8S Dyna E-Power into a desert-ready racing machine in just two months.

They boosted the engine power to 390hp, ensuring it could withstand harsh conditions.

They chose the Dyna E-Power dual-clutch transmission providing seamless speed changes without torque interruption, crucial for the demanding terrain.

They worked on the front axle suspension and cab suspension, reassembled the hydraulic system and electrical wiring, prepared the chassis for the roll cage, and finalized the co-driver’s support and navigation system.

They customized the MF 8S spacious cab, with 6.6m² of glass area and an interior volume of 3.4m³, accommodating two racing seats side by side, with offset driving controls.

Finally, thanks to the Protect-U design of the MF 8S – the unique 24 cm gap between the cab and bonnet – they were able to limit heat transfer from the engine to the operating environment, to achieve their challenge!

Engineering Excellence

Speaking about the MF 8S Dyna E-Power and its performance, the “MF Desert Challenge” team stated: “The tractor and the gearbox performed exceptionally well, demonstrating impressive responsiveness. After more than 3000 km of rigorous testing and nearly 70 hours of continuous gear changes, it proved itself worthy of a true competition-grade sequential gearbox.”

Transforming the MF 8S from a premium agricultural tractor to a rally-ready machine was an engineering marvel led by Gilles Kuffer, Director of Küfferagri SARL.

The synergy between customer, dealer, and brand has been reflected throughout this achievement: it is a great example of how a customer idea shared with a dealer can become a successful story supported by the Massey Ferguson brand.

Gilles highlighted the project's significance:

“This project showcases the skill of agricultural mechanics and the incredible achievements of these professionals. It was a human adventure, uniting resources and skills around a shared goal.”

To comply with race rules, several modifications were made to the MF 8S Dyna E-power, including:

• Michelin Evobib VF tyres with central tyre inflation system supplied by PTG, an option through MF By You, the MF customisation centre based in Beauvais.
• Addition of a full roll cage around the cab for operator protection.
• Spare wheel with a 180° pivoting crane.
• Second fuel tank and modified controls.
• Racing seats with harnesses.
• Independent hydraulic systems for front and rear lifts.
• 75kph top speed and polycarbonate side windows.
• Camera mirrors for enhanced visibility
