A Massey Ferguson tractor wrapped in MND Association colours

Distinctive tractor will take pride of place at agricultural show to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease

A TRACTOR wrapped in MND Association colours will take pride of place at the Yorkshire Agricultural Machinery Show on Wednesday in support of people living with Motor Neurone Disease.

The Massey Ferguson 6S has been provided by Peacock and Binnington, one of the largest agricultural machinery dealers in the region, to help raise awareness of a cause which is close to the hearts of everyone at the company.

12 years ago Val, the sister of Sales Director Marcus Bourne, died from MND just two years after being diagnosed. In June last year, Ruth Marsland, mum of one of Peacock and Binnington’s clients David Marsland, a farmer and haulier, also died from the disease.

In memory of them both, Peacock and Binnington agreed to work with David and their supplier to wrap the tractor to show their support for families affected by MND and for the MND Association, the largest MND charity in the UK. The tractor will feature the Association’s new brand colours and logo which were unveiled last week.

Sadie Richardson, Office Manager at Peacock and Binnington said: “We have supported other charities in the past, but the MND Association is a cause which means a lot to all of us.

“The tractor will be very distinctive and will be wrapped in the Association’s new brand colours. Rather than just the bonnet, or one part of the tractor, it will be a complete 360 degree wrap so we are all very much looking forward to seeing it. We’ve worked closely with Massey Ferguson on this and will be using one of their demo machines which will have pride of place at the show on Wednesday.”

MND Association Relationship Fundraiser, Jenn Scribbins said: “For people with MND and their families every day matters and this wonderful gesture proves they are not alone.

“The tractor will really help to raise awareness of MND – a disease which affects 5,000 people in the UK at any one time. Every pound donated and every conversation people have as a result of seeing this tractor is important and will help us get closer to a world free from MND.”

The Yorkshire Agricultural Machinery Show is being held at York Auction Centre in Murton between 8.30am and 4.30pm on Wednesday, 4 February.

About the MND Association

Every day we’re here for people affected by Motor Neurone Disease. A diagnosis of MND brings home the preciousness of every day. So we do all we can to make every day count. We bring understanding and guidance. We deliver practical and financial support. We raise awareness and campaign for better care. We’re not just here for now – as the UK’s leading charity funder of MND research, we’re striving for breakthroughs to develop new treatments and, ultimately, a cure. MND moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every piece of support, every research project, every pound raised, every kind word, and every day lived well, matters.

About motor neurone disease

Motor neurone disease (MND) is a fatal, rapidly progressing neurological disease. Today six people will be diagnosed with MND, and six people will die from the disease. There is no cure.

MND attacks and damages the nerves which take messages to the muscles. Within months a person may lose their voice, their movement and, ultimately, their ability to breathe. Some people experience changes in thinking and behaviour. MND doesn’t affect sight, hearing or touch.

A third of people die within a year of diagnosis, and more than half within two years. It affects people from all backgrounds, of all ages although MND is more prevalent in men, and a person’s risk increases as they get older.

More than 5,000 people in the UK are living with MND at any one time.
