New baler maximises productivity for cost-effective baling.
The Massey Ferguson® 1842S small square offers hay producers increased productivity with the superior construction and reliability they’ve come to expect from Massey Ferguson. The big brother to the market-leading MF 1840 Series small square baler, this new in-line square baler provides 20% more capacity and uniform, high-quality bale production to maximise ROI.
“With today’s, uncertain climate, hay producers have to use every tool possible to maximise efficiency and productivity in the available baling window,” said John Russell, Australia and New Zealand Massey Ferguson Product Manager for hay equipment. “That’s why we’ve powered up our popular 1840 Series small square baler to increase capacity, productivity and durability.”
Increased Productivity
The MF 1842S small square baler offers increased capacity across several design elements, providing a significant productivity increase that allows Australian hay producers to get more done in a day. Compared to the MF 1840 Series, the new MF 1842S features a 1.956 m pick-up, down-turning cross augers, dual feeding forks and 145 rpm operating speeds for 20% higher feed intake capacity. Additionally, a 20%-heavier-duty flywheel slip clutch provides consistent speed, reduces noise and vibrations and minimises power surges for a more comfortable operator experience.
The new baler also features a longer OptiForm® bale chamber. This exclusive feature helps provide dense, uniform bales. Farmers can get 20% higher density, where desired, with a 39% heavier plunger and 6% longer stroke for uniform, brick-like bales.
Legacy of Reliability
To deliver the straightforward dependability Australian hay producers demand and with the productivity they need, the new small square baler builds on decades of industry expertise.
Like the MF 1840 Series, the new baler features an in-line pick-up design — a brand exclusive. This feature is essential for high-quality, uniform bales. It allows for smooth crop flow without abrupt direction changes for uniform feeding and throughput resulting in denser, more consistent bales. The design also employs high-capacity dual feeding forks with six total tines for additional processing capacity, paired with a new high-capacity feeding chute with tapered design for smooth, unhindered crop flow.
The new baler design also features heavy-duty construction and fewer moving parts for a long-lasting, maintenance-friendly haying solution. The updated mainframe is based on a field-proven design for high loads and long life. A heavy-duty equal angle driveline with a mid-support pedestal provides reliable transmission power and reduced risk of tyre interference on sharp turns, while a heavy-duty gearbox is engineered to handle more power and higher loads. Eight heavy-duty plunger bearings decrease downtime and running costs. The main drive chain layout was also redesigned for greater accessibility and easier adjustment.
Cost-Effective Baling Solution
With 20% more capacity and the same level of dependability farmers have come to expect, the new MF 1842S baler provides fast ROI and low total cost of ownership.
Whether you’re looking to get more bales in a shorter amount of time or wanting to accomplish more with a single operator, the new MF 1842S helps you take advantage of every second in the field.
