Hesston by Massey Ferguson® Updates 2200 Series Baler

Large Square Baler Ushers in New Era of Innovative Forage Solutions

BOONE, IOWA | August 30, 2022 | AGCO Corporation (NYSE: AGCO), a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of agricultural machinery and precision ag technology, announces equipment updates from its Hesston® by Massey Ferguson® brand. The industry-leading hay tool manufacturer will unveil new features for its 2200 Series large square baler at this year’s Farm Progress Show, booth #1002. These updates usher in a new era of innovative forage solutions for commercial, dairy and biomass operations from the pioneers of large square baler technology.

“From the industry’s first large square baler to our most recent updates, Hesston by Massey Ferguson has led the hay and forage industry when it comes to innovative, user-friendly, durable balers,” said Matt LeCroy, director, marketing hay and harvesting North America, for Massey Ferguson. “The latest model LB2200 Series baler promises to provide a productive, cost-effective and long-lasting forage solution for North American hay producers.”

Efficiency-Enhancing Baler Updates

Hesston by Massey Ferguson pioneered large square baler technology, releasing the first model in 1978. Since then, the brand has continued to improve productivity for the most efficient forage solutions. Updates to the LB2200 Series include a number of features ideal for high-quality hay production.

Most notably, the new series introduces a five-bar pickup, increased from a four-bar configuration in previous models. This feature allows for better productivity as well as smoother crop flow, which results in better flake for a better bale.

Additionally, the updated baler employs poly tine wrappers. Compared to metal bands, these components are more forgiving, leading to a longer service life. This feature also reduces noise for less stress during long hours of operation.

Other updates include new tire and axle options as well as design changes to the roller bale chute for easier transport.

A Straightforward Baling Solution

The updated LB2200 Series blends proven and new technology to provide the user-friendly, cost-efficient hay and forage solutions customers have come to expect from Hesston. As with previous models, the updated series incorporates Hesston’s innovative double knotter system. This tried-and-true technology maintains the perfect bale from chamber, through transport, all the way to feeding.

The recent update adds a new electric knotter trip system to increased efficiency and ease of use. This feature allows operators to adjust bale length from the cab. Producers simply enter the desired length into the ISO-compatible display and the baler does the rest. Along with electronic bale length, the LB2200 brings Tractor Implement Management (TIM) to the field. With a TIM capable tractor, the operator can allow the baler to tell the tractor what the most efficient ground speed is, and the tractor will adjust accordingly. Additionally, the new model offers upgraded electronics for more streamlined operation and can interface with the most cutting-edge technology, such as Massey Ferguson’s DatatronicTM 5 terminal and MF Connect. MF Connect is a telemetry data tracking unit that keeps the baler connected to the cloud to transfer operation data in real time to the phone app or internet page. Onboard hydraulics make hookup easier and eliminate hydraulic variables that could impact baler performance.

Dependable Equipment from a Legendary Brand

The new 2200 Series continues Hesston’s 75-year commitment to providing high-quality, durable, long-lasting hay tools. The new model retains the wide, low-profile pickup design of previous 2200 Series balers. Paired with the new five-bar pickup reel, this provides superior forage collection.

Hesston by Massey Ferguson balers feature an exclusive pre-compression chamber that pre-forms flake before passing it to the bale formation chamber. This ensures dense, consistent bales for optimum quality.
