Each year, the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) selects 50 products from the agricultural, food and biological industries to recognize for remarkable innovation, significant engineering advancement and impact on their markets. The program is sponsored by Resource, the membership publication of ASABE, to emphasize the role of new and redesigned products and systems in bringing advanced technology to the marketplace.
We’re pleased to announce that the Massy Ferguson® 8S Series and DM367 FQ-RC were among the seven overall AE50 Awards received by AGCO for 2022.
The Future of Farming
We introduced the MF 8S Series at the 2021 Farm Progress Show. This revolutionary tractor, available in six models with a max engine HP of 205-305, was designed with significant “Voice of the Customer” input and represents a transformation in Massey Ferguson’s tractor history. The MF 8S Series includes several brand-new features, hydraulic and cooling improvements, and an aggressive styling scheme that will soon become a Massey Ferguson standard.
The exclusive MF Protect-U design provides visibility, comfort, efficiency and ultimate protection for MF 8S Series operators. The distinctive 9.4-inch separation between the cab and hood allows for a freer flow of fresh air to the engine for improved cooling capabilities and better engine performance while also reducing noise and vibration inside, resulting in one of the quietest cabs on the market. Additionally, the cab is brand new, down to the frame, and sports a color and shape reminiscent of vintage Massey Ferguson tractors. The layout uses simple color coding on all controls to help operators get right to work, including the MF vDisplay and Datatronic 5 terminal, both standard on the MF 8S Series.
The MF 8S Series is available in two transmission options: the dual-clutch Dyna E-Power, which provides smooth shifting and speed changes with no torque interruption and superior power transfer to the ground, or the Dyna-VT, a proven CVT that allows operators to select the exact speed and engine RPM for the job at hand. Paired with the 7.4-liter Tier 4 Final AGCO Power engine, either transmission provides performance, stability and dependability for a wide range of applications.
Advances in Hay Technology
In addition to the MF 8S Series tractor, our MF DM 367 FQ-RC was also recognized. These front 3-point hitch mounted mowers with rubber conditioner rolls provide features and options that will greatly benefit hay and forage producers alike. The mower’s design linkage means it is “pulled” instead of “pushed,” using pulled bars, steering rods and cylinders with ball joints to ensure exceptional three-dimensional ground adaptation for perfect forage production and minimal loss. The heavy-duty, one-piece welded steel RazorEdge cutterbar features a wide disc diameter for high output with reduced power consumption in heavier crops, resulting in a lower cost of ownership. Direct attachment to the tractor linkage without an A-frame means a shorter front overhang for better stability and comfort. Ease of use features — such as foldable protective covers for transport and a wide opening front cover — allows easy access to the cutterbar and quick-change blades for efficient maintenance.
Looking Ahead
“The AE50 Awards are among our industry’s highest achievements, and AGCO is very proud to be honored again this year with ASABE’s recognition,” said Brad Arnold, senior vice president, Product Management, at AGCO. “While these awards span multiple AGCO brands, they represent a singular dedication to the farmer-first focus that guides every brand and employee at AGCO.
