Massey Ferguson extends Sam Whitelock’s role as Brand Ambassador for New Zealand

Massey Ferguson, a worldwide brand of AGCO Corporation (NYSE: AGCO), is proud to announce the extension of their long-term brand partnership with rugby union icon Sam Whitelock as their brand ambassador for New Zealand. The new agreement sees Sam Whitelock, who has served as a Massey Ferguson brand ambassador since 2019, continue to proudly represent the brand until March 2025.

The formidable lock shares the same values and passion for agriculture as the iconic farm machinery brand. Like Massey Ferguson, Whitelock embodies the ‘Born to Farm’ spirit. “We’re excited to continue our partnership with Sam who is a bona fide champion on the field with an impressive track record,” says Haydn Reeves, Senior Manager – Marketing, Massey Ferguson Australia, New Zealand and Far East. Not only an on-field champion, Whitelock “is highly regarded off the playing field as someone who has a strong passion for farming and the rural community in general,” notes Reeves. 

Whitelock, who needs no introduction to Kiwis, is regarded as one of the greats of New Zealand Super Rugby. He has played in three Rugby World Cups, with 132 Test caps to his name. His impressive list of global achievements and accolades include being the youngest New Zealander in history to reach 100 tests, being a key member of the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cup-winning teams and 2nd most capped player in history. Known for his speedy prowess on the field, Whitelock also holds the record as the fastest player ever to reach 100 international appearances. 

Farming is in Whitelock’s blood, as a third-generation dairy farmer from the Manawatu region. With a strong connection to the land and a lead-by-example mentality, Whitelock aligns with the values of Massey Ferguson, embodying the brand’s hard work, reliability and commitment to the task ahead.  

Whitelock is an upstanding leader who is honest and dedicated to giving his all. His commitment to giving back to the farming community is evidenced by his involvement with Farm Strong, a not-for-profit organisation focused on providing farmers with the skills and resources needed to live well and keep well. “At Massey Ferguson and at AGCO more broadly, we believe strongly in integrity, respect, and team-spirit and this is something we see Sam display both on and off the field,” notes Haydn Reeves. “We find Sam’s work with Farm Strong particularly admirable.”

In his role as brand ambassador for Massey Ferguson, Whitelock will feature in media campaigns and promotional events throughout the duration of his ambassadorship. “We are thrilled for the Kiwi farming community to have an opportunity to connect with one of our national icons through a shared love of the land,” says Reeves. “We are very excited for Sam to continue his role in the Massey Ferguson family.”
