Massey Ferguson baler and baler-wrapper combination upgrades enhance forage quality and productivity

Massey Ferguson, a worldwide brand of AGCO (NYSE:AGCO), is delighted to announce a range of significant upgrades to its MF RB round balers and MF Protec baler/wrapper combinations for the 2022 season. These improvements help to further lift forage quality as well as enable users to specifically select the features they need to match their crops and conditions.

“As part of our full-line strategy Massey Ferguson is continuing to invest in upgrading our high quality harvesting equipment range. These changes boost harvesting efficiency and better preserve crops and help to create high quality forage for your stock, with the home-grown feed helping to increase profits,” says Thierry Lhotte, Vice President & Managing Director Massey Ferguson, Europe & Middle East.

MF baler and baler/wrapper updates for 2022:

  • New film tying option for MF RB F Protec baler-wrapper combination as well as new bale tipper and options of a hand-wash tank, LED lighting and hydraulic jack
  • Choice of ‘Silage’ and ‘Comfort’ specification packages
  • Higher capacity transmission option for MF RB F Xtra and MF RB F Protec machines
  • Additional knife holder for MF RB F and MF RB V Solo balers
  • Further improvements to ease operation and quality

Film tying option for MF RB F Protec baler/wrapper combination

Massey Ferguson now offers the additional option of film tying on its MF RB F Protec baler-wrapper combination. This can be installed as well as net tying allowing operators to choose to use the most suitable tying material for the crop, conditions and other requirements.

Film tying, instead of using net, makes denser bales that contain less oxygen, which improves forage quality and reduces in-store losses. It also lessens the risk of punctures and helps to retain the great bale shape, which improves stack stability.

Operators can choose to use either net or film to finish the bales and simply switch between either, in less than two minutes, using the Rapid Reload System. This holds up to three rolls of net, film or a combination of both.

Replacement net or film rolls are loaded conveniently from the ground using the Comfort Load system. This enables operators to stand the roll vertically onto a long loading arm, which makes it much easier to lift it into the horizontal position before sliding it into place and over the support roller.

The same film is used for tying and wrapping the bales and can be recycled together – unlike net, which needs to be separated.

A new on-board water tank option, on both the MF RB F Protec and MF RB V Protec models, enables operators to wash their hands after replacing the net or film rolls or other maintenance work. It even comes with a soap dispenser in the lid.

Other changes to the MF RB F and MF RB V Protec balers include:

  • A new bale tipper provides good ground following and an improved hitching system, which can be moved to the transport position from the cab
  • New, optional LED lighting provides one light for the wrapping unit and two others positioned underneath the side panel
  • Hydraulic jack option to ease hitching.

Tailor baler specification to suit all crops and conditions

Massey Ferguson’s new ‘Silage’ and ‘Comfort’ option packages are available for MF RB F & V Series Xtra (fixed and variable chamber balers), as well as for the MF RB F & V Protec (baler/wrapper) range. These provide the most popular specifications for specific tasks and help users to tailor their balers to precisely suit their crops and operations. For those looking for optimum features and flexibility it is also possible to order the machines with both packages.

Knife holder for easy chop length changing

MF RB F and MF RB V balers can now be equipped with an on-board spare knife holder option, which allows operators to carry 13, 17 or 25 additional knives. This makes it easier to add or remove knives in the field, enabling the chop length to be quickly changed to match the crop and conditions.

Further baler upgrades

Massey Ferguson has also introduced a range of other upgrades and options on the balers, which are all designed to ease operation and boost forage quality. These include a new 40mm diameter, turning eyelet hitch option that is specifically designed to meet the needs of users in certain European countries.

At the same time all MF RB V – variable chamber – balers are now equipped with a new net tying system. This employs a hydraulically powered conveyor, which further improves performance and reliability in all conditions.
