The features and benefits of a recently-introduced high-visibility panoramic cab option for MF6400 and MF7400 Series tractors were highlighted at the European grounds care and municipal press event held at Abbey Park Stoneleigh on 19 June.
Shown on a tractor operating a side-arm flail mower, the cab features a pillar-less side window giving an unobstructed 140 degree-wide view over side-mounted equipment – ideal for municipal and contract operations such as hedge trimming and flail mowing of roadside verges, water courses and embankments.
Currently offered in continental Europe with a pillar-less right-hand side window only, the panoramic cab option has won approval from public authorities and contractors for the improvement it brings in safety and ease of operation for verge and hedge maintenance operations.
If feedback is positive from those countries that drive on the left-hand side of the road, Massey Ferguson is evaluating the possibility of making the cab additionally available with a pillar-less left-hand side window enhancing the use of equipment mounted and working to the left-hand side of the tractor.
The panoramic cab is currently available as on option on seven MF6400 series tractor models with maximum power outputs from 100hp to 157hp (75kW - 117kW) and three MF7400 series tractors of 135hp, 150hp and 167hp (100, 112 and 124kW). Known in continental Europe as Visioporteur, the cab has just five upright pillars achieved by replacing the door on one side of the tractor with a single piece of glass.
The absence of a pillar to one side of the driving position provides maximum visibility over a side-mounted machine and the working area, improving the ease, speed and safety of working operations. For enhanced safety, the panoramic side window is protected by a tinted, scratch-resistant 8mm thick polycarbonate screen.
Standard equipment on the full-width side window of the panoramic cab includes a retractable sunblind and a wash/wipe system designed to maintain optimum visibility in all weather conditions.
For road operations, wiring and optional bracketry enables easy fixing of a roof-mounted ‘triflash’ hazard warning triangle.
