BTME preview – MF 1500 Series.  Full size tractor features in a compact package

The new Massey Ferguson MF 1500 Series provide professional users with a highly versatile, feature packed tractor in a compact package.

The lightweight, but rugged design makes the new tractors ideally suited to a variety of turfcare, groundscare, municipal, horticultural and local authority applications. Offering seven models – with 12 different versions including mechanical or hydrostatic transmissions – the MF 1500 Series has a tractor to suit all applications.

All models are four-wheel drive and can be fitted with a wide range of rear collection systems to compliment a large variety of mowing decks.

On show for the first time at BTME is the recently introduced 46hp, MF 1547 tractor ideally suited to those requiring more power for jobs such as verti-draing and other energy sapping tasks. The four-cylinder, 2,197cc diesel also provides the power to carry out more work, faster helping to improve overall efficiency. This model is fitted with can option, which also comes with the optional air-conditioning. (A cab is also available for the 38hp, MF 1540 hydro model, but without air-con).

The tractor on show is equipped with a three-range hydrostatic transmission, with two-pedal operation providing infinite speed control. This boosts versatility and is particularly useful for mowing work where it aids manoeuvrability when working in confined spaces. The tractor is also available with a mechanical transmission that offers four forward and four reverse speeds in three ranges.

Indeed, a choice of hydrostatic or mechanical transmissions is offered across the whole range, ensuring users have a wide choice to suit each particular need and application.

The MF 1547 tractor offers 540/1,000rpm independently engaged, rear PTO speeds and comes complete with a 2,000rpm mid-mounted unit, which is an option on the mechanical drive version.

With a flowrate of 43.9 litres/min there is plenty of hydraulic performance providing a lift capacity of 1,580kg on the Cat 1, three-point linkage as well as flow to two spool valves.

Representing the mid-range MF 1500 Series at BTME is the 28hp MF 1528. Although this is available with a hydrostatic transmission, the show tractor is equipped with a mechanical gearbox. This provides three forward and one reverse speed in three ranges, and illustrates how users can choose specifications that best suit there needs. The tractor is equipped with a full ROPS compliant roll-bar as standard.

A new three-cylinder, 1,463cc diesel engine is designed to provide high power and torque across its working range. A tilting bonnet and removable side panels ease access for routine service and maintenance.

A 540rpm rear PTO is standard, along with a 2,000rpm mid-mounted shaft. There is plenty of hydraulic power to the two standard spools from the 37.7 litre/min hydraulic pump. Lift capacity on the Cat 1, three-point linkage is 1,100kg.

With its high level of standard specification, along with many useful options and choices, the MF 1500 Series offer operators power comfort and control, combined with high durability and low running costs.
