The light and agile MF 2400 Utility tractors – with powers from 66hp to 82hp (ISO) – offer the power now demanded to meet the increasing demands of turf professionals, groundscare and municipal users. Powered by Perkins engines, the tractors are all four-wheel drive, offer superb power-to-weight ratios and have high rear lift capacities.
All the new MF 2400 Series are equipped with the latest four cylinder, Perkins 800 Series engines. These turbocharged, 3.3 litre capacity units are designed to provide excellent torque and power characteristics for the most demanding applications. All surpass the Stage 2 emissions regulations and are much quieter than previous models.
The vertical exhaust stack, on cab models, is repositioned to the side for completely clear all-round visibility. The bonnet tilts with removable sides for unrivalled access for servicing and maintenance. The new 90 litre capacity fuel tank is mounted under the platform with superb access for ease of filling.
New MF cab sets new standards of operator comfort
Massey Ferguson is setting new standards of cab comfort and design, with operators of the new MF 2400 Series benefiting from the development of the new four-post cab that offers a very clear view and quieter operation. The ‘Visi Roof’ glass panel is now standard. This ensures safe and efficient handling by providing superb visibility of the MF 800 Series front-end loader, virtually through its entire working range.
Air conditioning (where fitted) is now mounted in the cab roof, which boosts its efficiency. A standard opening front screen also improves ventilation, allowing operators to adjust airflow and temperature to suit their needs.
Two extra-wide opening doors provide excellent access, up two sloping steps, to the cab. This is particularly useful for those jobs that require the driver to continually dismount and climb back on the tractor. Internally, all controls are laid out in an ergonomic arrangement, with all the levers and buttons falling to hand easily. A deluxe Grammer seat is standard, while an air-suspended model is an option for those requiring further comfort.
Transmissions to suit all tasks
All MF 2400 Series tractors are fitted with a rugged and versatile 15-forward/15 reverse speed transmission as standard. This is equipped with a mechanical shuttle lever. Mounted on the left-hand side this lever simplifies direction changing and shuttling. A new Powershuttle option, provides direction changes without the use of clutch, using a column-mounted lever, and is ideally suited for operations that require extensive manoeuvring. Maximum transport speed is 40km/hr (where legislation permits).
A minimum speed of 200m/hr (at rated engine speed) is achievable with the optional SuperCreep gearbox. This also doubles the number of speeds to 30-forward/30 reverse, providing a wide range of speeds necessary for numerous specialist operations.
Furthermore there is the option of the SpeedShift transmission, which offers push-button, clutchless change in every gear – effectively doubling the number of available speeds.
Strong axles support heavy loads
All three new MF 2400 Series models come with four-wheel drive as standard from new 60º steering angle, high load carrying capacity front axles. This provides a braked turning radius of 2.91m, making the tractors ideally suited to applications in and around buildings and for tight headland manoeuvres. All models have a vertical load capacity of 3,000kg at a track width of 1,600mm. External epicyclic reduction units, mounted in the front hubs, efficiently transfer the power to the wheels. Ground clearance is 414mm.
Safe and secure braking is ensured by the Integrated Braking System that provides four-wheel braking, regardless of whether drive is engaged to the front axle. The system uses four oil-immersed discs in the front axle and eight in the rear for safe and secure stopping in all conditions.
Hydraulics handle heavy loads
Two independent hydraulic circuits ensure constant smooth operation of the steering and linkage, regardless of flow demands across the tractor. The Cat II three point linkage has a standard lift capacity of 2,100kg or up to 3,400kg with the optional twin assistor rams. Straightforward mechanical control is standard, while for those requiring further sophistication is the optional Electronic Linkage Control (ELC). Up to 57 litres/minute of oil flow is available for the operation of the rear linkage or this can be directed to the two spool valves using the standard flow divider. A third spool is an option.
Standard two-speed PTO provides 540/750rpm speeds with a six-spline shaft. This is engaged using an electro-hydraulically controlled multi-plate wet clutch.
