“Operator comfort is a high priority. These tractors are expected to work hard and for long working days. It is not uncommon for some crops to be treated in excess of 25 times in a season. This is why Massey Ferguson has invested an enormous amount of research and development resources into ensuring the driver has the best workplace for optimum comfort and output,” explains Mr Chinn.
A further benefit is the new cab’s high pressure ventilation system. This ensures that all the air entering the cab first passes through the efficient filter system. Air quality can also be enhanced by fitting optional active carbon filters for spraying operations. Air-conditioning is also available.
The new cab maintains the familiar MF family ‘feel’, offering excellent all-round visibility with wide opening doors providing superb access. The standard seat is fully adjustable, while an air-suspended version is an option.
For those operators that do not require a cab MF also offers a semi-platform operator station, which reduces the overall tractor height to the absolute minimum.
Width to fit each and every task
The dimensions of the MF 3600 Specialist and Vineyard Series models have been tailored specifically to provide the exact widths to perfectly match all requirements. The V models, for example, can be reduced to just 1m wide – to the outside of the tyres – making them ideal for work in traditional vineyards.
These models can also be fitted with the RC100 cab option, which although just 1m wide, is ingeniously designed to make the best use of the available space. Specialist tractor models, available with the RC120 cab option, can be configured to work in a range of wider spaced vines, fruits and trees, offering an overall width – to the outside of the tyres – of just 1.3m.
Simply superb manoeuvrability
Massey Ferguson has developed its novel ‘SuperTurn’ system to provide exceptionally tight turns without having to resort to a separate, more complex system. The compact three-cylinder SisuDiesel Citius engines - 28mm shorter than the four-cylinder blocks used previously used – provide extra room and flexibility for the front axle support.
Combined with a fully-waisted profile this allows unimpeded movement for the front wheels for an excellent, true turning radius, to the outside of the front tyres of 2.9m to 3.2m – depending on tyre sizes.
This simple, intelligent design provides the new MF 3600 S & V Series models with remarkably tight turns, but with low wear and maintenance requirements along with exceptional reliability. There is also no loss of stability or exaggerated front and rear implement swing when operating with SuperTurn.
High torque and power from advanced SisuDiesel engines
All the new MF 3600 S & V Series tractors are powered by the latest, most advanced, SisuDiesel Citius 3.3 litre, three cylinder engines – the first in the sector to meet the strict Tier 3 exhaust emission regulations. The exhaust pipe is now underslung on the left-hand side.
These lively, robust engines are literally half the six-cylinders used in Massey Ferguson’s other ranges, right up to the 315CV flagship MF 8400 Series. The same Citius engines are used in the standard MF 3600 Series in which they have gained a strong reputation for developing smooth, quiet power with tremendous torque characteristics.
Peak performance is ensured by the Citius engine’s outstanding power and torque characteristics. The superior SisuDiesel design develops maximum torque at 1,400 rev/min, which enables the tractors to pull through tough conditions with fewer gear changes, for optimum output and enhanced fuel efficiency.
All the engines can run on 100% bio-diesel and are compatible with biodegradable oil. Access for maintenance is via a single-piece, lift-up bonnet.
Versatile transmissions to suit all tasks
All MF 3600 S & V Series tractors can be specified with a transmission to exactly suit a wide range of applications. Transmission choice begins with a 12/12 gearbox, 30km/hr, as standard on the V and S models. This is operated with one lever for four gears, plus another to select high, medium and low ranges.
Alternatively, the Syncho Shuttle, offers 24F/24R gears and uses a lever to shift each of the four gears into high or low and a separate synchronised shuttle lever for direction changes. This same arrangement is also available with Speedshift, which employs a button on the gearlever to shift each gear into high and low.
For maximum efficiency is the 24F/24F PowerShuttle. With this transmission direction changes are made, without the clutch, simply with a flick of a short lever on the left-hand side of the dashboard.
The Specialist models can be supplied with all transmission options with a top speed of 40km/hr. Top speed on the narrow Vineyard models is, however, restricted to 30km/hr for safety.
Exclusive Independent PTO offers plenty of options
An exclusive, MF-designed independent PTO, which is operated by an electro-hydraulically engaged, oil-immersed clutch is a unique standard feature on all the MF 3600 S & V Series tractors.
The system comes with an unrivalled choice of selectable speeds to suit all types of tasks and implements, including: 540rpm, 540/540E (750), 540/1,000rpm on the V models. The S versions also have the further options of 540/750rpm/ground speed or 540/1,000rpm/ground speed.
High flow hydraulics
Two independent hydraulic circuits ensure constant, smooth operation of the spool valves and linkage.
The Cat II three-point linkage has a standard lift capacity of 2,500kg, with straightforward mechanical control. The MF 3600 S & V Series models can be specified with up to three hydraulic pumps, which enable high oil flows of up to 62 litros/min, to be distributed through one or two separate circuits for maximum control while maintaining a low oil operating temperature.
Up to five spool valves can be specified on the MF 3600 S & V Series, including three at the rear and two that are joystick operated and mid-mounted. This makes them ideal hosts for loaders and a multitude of mid- or front-mounted implements.
Precise implement control is ensured by the availability of hydraulic control for linkage levelling and sideways sway. This enables the operator to easily and precisely position and manoeuvre rear-mounted equipment.
