At an unused oval on the property of the Whitehead family in Southern NSW, history was made as the rain came down and the Graziers XI took the Colombo Creek Classic for the second year running.
The cricket match, between the Graziers XI and the Farmers XI, was played for the CanTeen Foundation which supports young people and their families living with cancer.
One hundred and twenty people attended the classic, contributing to what will now be an annual event. The day attracted fantastic support with over $11,000 being raised for the foundation, and the ABC Radio announcing the scores alongside its coverage of the India V’s Australia test match.
The normally sun drenched landscape of the Riverina gave over to an unusual bucketing and forced the match to a 20/20 game, which was then followed by an evening of live music, fine dining and refreshments. A charity auction and a reverse raffle of all donated merchandise and prizes were conducted throughout the evening.
AGCO’s very own Will De Fegely, Product Support Specialist – Hay & Harvest, helped co-ordinate the event and Massey Ferguson was only too willing to help give him and CanTeen a hand.
“Massey Ferguson was proud to sponsor the Colombo Creek Classic in aid of the CanTeen foundation. It’s great to see a community coming together to support such a worthy cause. We can’t wait to see if the Graziers can gain a hat trick next year,” said Mario Capetola, Marketing Communications Manager, AGCO Australia Limited.
