MF 3400C 68 - 98 hp

Refined solutions for your specialist needs

MF 3400C

When tracks are what you need to cope with difficult terrain, Massey Ferguson’s crawler range offers the ultimate choice of 11 models. Choose from ‘C’ models for open field applications, CF ‘Fruit’ versions for narrow vineyard and orchards or wide CFM mountain machines to tackle slopes with complete control and safety.

With horsepower extending from 68 to 100 hp, high specification, exceptional performance and durability, these machines have the edge where the extra traction, light footprint and stability of tracks are essential.

Hydraulics

Hydraulics, Linkage & PTO

Versatile, precise linkage and hydraulics

Two-speed independent PTO has a choice of 540/540E or 540/1000 rev/min speeds, which are achieved through a drive line from the dual clutch ensuring minimal power losses. Servo- assisted engagement allows progressive power take up and easy operation.

The 3- point linkage has full draft, position, intermix and float control for fast, accurate and safe implement control.

The MF 3400C Series has a lift capacity of 2650 kg and a high-flow 39 l/min pump which provides ample oil flow for the linkage and spool valves.

‘C’ models have an additional pump which provides an extra 49 l/min oil flow for up to six single/double acting spool valves.

Engines

High performance diesel engines for superb in-field performance

These emission compliant, low noise, high performance Perkins 1100 Series engines feature a long-stroke design, which develops high torque at low revs for excellent pulling power.

In difficult conditions when engine speed falls as the load increases, real working torque increases rapidly to maintain productivity.

A unique Fastram combustion system ensures more fuel is converted into energy and less is wasted out of the exhaust.  Fastram also means less noise and vibration for greater driver comfort and longer engine life.

Turbo-charged models are particularly suited to working at high altitude with no loss of power.

Tracks

Tracks

Designed to give the ultimate in durability

The MF 3400C Series features long-life tracks with a large choice of widths.

Track frames, sprockets, chains, pins and plates are all designed for high durability and long service life.

The tracks have an extra-long contact area with five guide rollers for better weight distribution and minimal soil compaction.

Sophisticated sealing is used on the guide rollers and track pins to reduce noise and optimise life.

Suspended tracks are located on an oversized rear axle and heavy-duty front leaf spring giving excellent durability and ground contact, while the hydraulic track tensioning system improves ride quality and reduces vibration and wear.

Why use tracks?

The big advantage of tracked tractors is that by spreading the tractor’s axle load over a wider area (i.e. through the tracks), soil compaction is greatly reduced.

Soil compaction and wheel slippage cause poor drainage, poor root development and poor germination. That all adds up to reduced productivity and ultimately profitability.

On slopes, tracks really come into their own. With a lower centre of gravity, greater ‘pulling power’ and virtually no slip, the MF 3400 crawler enables you to work safely on 20% steeper terrain.

Tracks also provide improved manoeuvrability. The ability to turn almost within its own length is ideal in vineyards and orchards.

Steering

Steering & Braking

No other crawler tractor is this easy to use

The MF 3400C Series’ steering and braking is the best in the business, giving complete accuracy when cultivating near trees or vines and powerful braking when really tight turns are required.

The system is controlled by two centrally-mounted levers which are light to operate with exceptional ‘feel’ and response.

The servo-assisted levers are dual action with the first part of their travel operating the steering clutches and the second applying the corresponding track brake.

A dedicated oil supply ensures consistent control regardless of other hydraulic demands.

Cab

Operator Platform

A productive blend of power, comfort and control

The spacious ISO-mounted operator platform has excellent access and features a large, adjustable seat.

Careful design and location of the controls ensure simple, light and precise operation whilst minimising damage to delicate crops.

The ISO-mounted platform and suspended tracks reduce noise and vibration for greater comfort and safety.

Transmission

Choice of transmissions to suit all requirements

The ‘modular’, heavy-duty 16/8 gearbox features a rugged design with constant mesh gears and sliding couplers for simplicity and strength. Coupled to heavy-duty final drives, the transmission is extremely durable and able to withstand the toughest treatment.

Well spaced gears provide 9 speeds in the 3 to 12 km/h field working range.

Where low ground speeds are required, the 5.12:1 super slow creeper option gives speeds as low as 300 m/h.

Gear levers are side-mounted with the main gear lever to the right and shuttle lever to the left, leaving the right hand free to operate the linkage and hydraulics.
