Extra density packs 20% more material

Packing 15-20% more material into every bale than the standard model, the MF 2170 XD produces high density bales across a range of crops including hay, haylage, straw and oilseed rape haulm. In one trial, for example the machine regularly made bales with an average weight of 550kg in wheat straw at 12.5% moisture. To produce the high-density bales, engineers at our Hesston factory completely redesigned the driveline, enormously strengthening the components and structure to handle the extra loads.

New XD flywheel – at 545kg and with a width of 250mm, this is nearly double the weight and twice the thickness of the standard version to create the additional inertia and maintain the momentum needed to produce extra density bales

Improved structural integrity

XD Extra Density chamber design – increases compression on the material and at a lower hydraulic pressure than standard. XD Density doors on the side of the chamber have a new, refined profile with a gradual curve which improves compression

XD Density Chamber Doors
The density chamber doors have been redesigned for increased strength and loading onto the bale.  As greater loading will be subjected onto the bale the structural integrity has been increased.  The pinch point has been moved from the front of the chamber door towards the rear for increased resistance onto the crop for higher density.

XD Hydraulic Density Cylinders

The double acting hydraulic density cylinders on the compression chamber doors have been increased in size by 29% to provide a greater amount of compression force onto the bale for greater density. These cylinders will now be 114mm diameter and have been designed to increase the bale weight and operate at lower hydraulic pressures.

A new hydraulic block is used for the hydraulic density control of the baler. It uses a pressure sensing flow control valve and will improve the control and response of the density cylinders.

New Hydraulic Density Dump Valve

A new valve has been installed to the hydraulic block to release the pressure within the hydraulic density cylinders.  By simply pulling down and rotating the end of the valve, oil pressure can be released from the hydraulic cylinders.

High Performance Running Gear

Standard High-Speed Tandem Axle – with the MF 2170 XD set to be the contactors’ choice, this feature is standard on the model. The self-steering independently-sprung axle runs on 500/45-22.5 tyres and enhances comfort and stability during transport, while providing optimum floatation and ground clearance in the field.

The MF 2170 XD uses the C1000 baler monitor, the new XD software has been specifically developed to safely operate at higher load settings to acheive increased bale density.

New Integrated bale weighing system option

This simple yet accurate design weighs the bales precisely as they exit the chamber and pass onto the roller bale chute.
