SIMA Press Conference

The fundamentals driving demand for farm produce have not changed – that was the view of a panel of food and financial experts speaking at the press presentation staged by Massey Ferguson’s parent company, AGCO at the SIMA farm machinery show in Paris. Despite the global financial situation, there will be a steady and inexorable demand for food.

AGCO brought together an expert panel and nearly 100 journalists from Europe’s leading agricultural publications to discuss the opportunities for agriculture in the current economic climate,.

Haig Simonian, Financial Times correspondent for Switzerland and Austria, moderated the discussion. On the panel were bankers and agricultural consultants together with Martin Richenhagen, Chairman, President and CEO of AGCO Corporation who said that demand for produce continues to be higher than supply and farmers still need to increase output and improve efficiency to meet demand.

Through its top-name brands like Massey Ferguson, AGCO is committed to creating solutions that will allow farms to become more profitable.
